NMRT Mentoring Committee is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for their Conference Mentoring Program for the ALA Annual Conference in June!

Do you find yourself wondering to whom you can impart all this hard-fought knowledge?
In that case, we have just the person!
Volunteer to be a Conference Mentor today!
The Conference Mentoring Program is open to all ALA members and is designed to connect a first time conference attendee with a ‘seasoned professional’ who can help them navigate the ALA Annual Conference.
Check out the guidelines and an online application form.
The application deadline is June 1, 2011 for first consideration.
Applicants will be matched with a Conference Mentor in June and communicate via email or telephone prior to the conference and then meet during the conference.

Seizing Opportunities to Serve: Professional Involvement, Local to National
Are you just getting started in librarianship? Are you looking for ways to volunteer for your local, state, regional or national organizations? Do you want to serve on a committee, act as a reviewer, or run for an office, and you donâ€™t know where or how to get started?
Well, youâ€™ve taken your first stepâ€¦by joining ALA! Whether you are new to librarianship or a not so new librarian looking for ways to become more involved and make an impact in the profession, this session is for you!
Come hear from librarians in a variety of libraries, at different stages in their career discuss their involvement in professional organizations. Our panel will provide tips and techniques on how to be an effective volunteer, and why service work is valuable to you and librarianship at large!

Not attending the ALA Annual Conference and/or need something fun to do? Create and submit a short 1-3 minute video for new librarians who cannot attend the 2011 ALA Conference at New Orleans! Â Watch and vote for your fellow NMRTersâ€™ videos! Spread the word to all librarians you know.

- How to use NMRT to get help with any of these above (ex. resume review service, mentoring program, conference scholarships, networking, and committees etc.).
