The purpose of the award is to increase student involvement in ALA through student chapters, and to recognize future leaders in the profession.<\/p>\n<h4>AWARD AND AWARD CRITERIA<\/h4>\n<p>The Student Chapter winner will receive $1,000 to help defray travel expenses to\u00a0<acronym title=\"American Library Association\">ALA<\/acronym>\u00a0Annual;\u00a0the winning chapter and\u00a0the runner up will each receive a certificate. Both will be recognized at the\u00a0<acronym title=\"New Members Round Table\">NMRT<\/acronym>\u00a0Student Reception at the 2012\u00a0<acronym title=\"American Library Association\">ALA<\/acronym>\u00a0Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA.<\/p>\n<p>The six categories of Student Chapter of the Year Award criteria include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Membership Engagement and Programs<\/li>\n<li>Communications<\/li>\n<li>Leadership<\/li>\n<li>Financial<\/li>\n<li>Awards and Honors<\/li>\n<li>Student Chapter Advisor Statement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>ELIGIBILITY<\/h4>\n<p>All\u00a0<acronym title=\"American Library Association\">ALA<\/acronym>\u00a0Student Chapters in good standing are eligible to receive the\u00a0<acronym title=\"American Library Association\">ALA<\/acronym>\u00a0Student Chapter of the Year Award. There is no limit on the number of times a student chapter may win the award.
