{"id":1509,"date":"2023-10-16T15:02:05","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T20:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nmrt.ala.org\/notes\/?p=1509"},"modified":"2023-10-16T15:02:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T20:02:05","slug":"call-for-papers-for-endnotes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nmrt.ala.org\/notes\/call-for-papers-for-endnotes\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers for Endnotes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On behalf of the American Library Association&#8217;s New Members Round Table (NMRT), the Endnotes Committee is pleased to announce the latest call for papers to&nbsp;<em>Endnotes: The Journal of the New Members Round Table<\/em>.&nbsp;Please feel free to pass this call along to your faculty, staff, and students who may have an interest in publishing with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Endnotes<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ala.org\/index.php\/endnotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Endnotes<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;is a&nbsp;<strong>peer-reviewed, scholarly journal<\/strong>&nbsp;that addresses issues faced by librarians. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.&nbsp;<em>Endnotes&nbsp;<\/em>accepts research and practitioner-based articles. Each edition of the journal will contain 2-3 scholarly articles written by members of NMRT, as well as website reviews and scholarly book reviews of titles relevant to new librarians.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Endnotes&#8217;s&nbsp;<\/em>aim is to work with new authors to produce quality scholarly articles and provide an understanding of the publication process. It welcomes submissions from LIS students, early-career professionals and researchers, and first-time writers.&nbsp;<em>Endnotes&nbsp;<\/em>encourages potential authors to consider their course research projects or affiliated institutional programs, surveys, and studies, and how they might convert these options into publishable journal articles, posters, or reviews.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guidelines for Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Articles should range from 2,000 to 6,000 words and be written by LIS students or early-career library professionals.&nbsp;<em>Endnotes&nbsp;<\/em>welcomes research papers, technical papers, conceptual papers, case studies, and literature reviews. More information on these types of articles is available in our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ala.org\/index.php\/endnotes\/about\/submissions#authorGuidelines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complete submission guidelines<\/a>.&nbsp;Authors must be members of NMRT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topics that might be appropriate for&nbsp;<em>Endnotes&nbsp;<\/em>include, but are not limited to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Graduate student research and projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early-career research and projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training and mentoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job searching or hiring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing leadership and management skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Library instruction and assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing new collections or services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with specific community groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committee work and development &#8211; at your library or university, regionally or nationally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviews of new books or other educational materials such as websites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Submit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please submit completed manuscripts to our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScJ0_0vf8H6TW2aj5gn3-khzSS_5cO3xmuRVTJZ_4ryBo9TvQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electronic form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those interested in discussing an idea for an article are encouraged to contact the editors, Sarah Lerner and Emily Zerrenner, at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:nmrtendnotesjournal@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nmrtendnotesjournal@gmail.com<\/a>&nbsp;to determine if the proposed article fits the publication scope.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submission Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manuscript submissions are due no later than<strong>&nbsp;January 31, 2024<\/strong>. Initial responses to manuscript submissions are typically sent out a month after the submission deadline. If selected for peer review, reviewers are given two weeks to evaluate a submission. Typically, 2-4 weeks are given for manuscript revisions between each peer-review evaluation. The publication date for&nbsp;<em>Endnotes&nbsp;<\/em>issue 12.1 is tentatively set for&nbsp;<strong>June 30, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paper ideas and manuscripts may be submitted outside of this timeline, but are not guaranteed publication in the 2024 issue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><\/strong>For more information about&nbsp;<em>Endnotes<\/em>, including complete submission guidelines and previous issues, please visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ala.org\/index.php\/endnotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/journals.ala.org\/index.php\/endnotes\/<\/a>.
